Uncle Jacks

Uncle Jacks

6 out of 10 stars (6 / 10)

Recently we visited Ocean Grove with some friends and spent the day on Saturday visiting the vineyards on the Bellarine Peninsular. We planned to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning having breakfast in the main street of Ocean Grove before heading back to town.

Uncle Jacks was recommended as a cafe with a good amount of space for the 8 of us going for breakfast – Trent and I, our friends Kate and Cal, their 2 kids, and Cal’s parents. We set ourselves up at the large table in the middle of the room which had more than enough space for all of us, and more groups could fit at the other end.

Trent and I arrived early to secure the table and ordered a chai tea for me, an iced latte for Trent, and a small croissant to share while we waited for the others. The drinks were good and the croissant was yummy and served with generous proportions of jam and butter.

For breakfast Trent and Cal ordered the Breakfast Burger (bacon, fried egg, UJ’s smoky BBQ sauce, burger cheese, 2 hash browns), I ordered eggs and toast (poached eggs and bacon on Sourdough toast) and Kate ordered a breakfast bowl.

Trent and I both enjoyed our meals but didn’t find them particularly special.

For breakfast we weren’t overly impressed, but there are many other reasons to go to Uncle Jacks. It had a good vibe (if a bit loud) and good service, and would be worth trying out in the afternoon or evening for their good looking wine and cocktail lists.

Overall we rated Uncle Jacks 6 stars for this experience, but think it has good potential.
