Boathouse Cafe, Daylesford

Well I’ve just put a leg of lamb on the BBQ to roast, potatoes and carrots in the oven, poured V a glass of a 2015 Capel Vale Cabernet Sauvignon and myself a 2016 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay, so I thought it would be a good time to do the final write up in our Hepburn Springs – Daylesford series of reviews.

For lunch on the Monday before we headed home, we decided on the Boathouse Cafe in Daylesford. It is great location with a fantastic view. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside on the deck but were chased inside by a group of overly friendly wasps. The staff were more than happy to accomodate us.

We weren’t overly hungry due to all the other great food we’d had this weekend but that didn’t stop us from ordering a full lunch main each.  Virginia ordered the open lamb souvlaki and I had the beer battered gummy shark. We both enjoyed our meals but the location is really the main drawcard here. We then went for a walk around the lake for some token exercise and great views.

We gave the Boathouse cafe 7 stars.

P.S. Once we completed the lap of the cafe we dropped into Bookbarn which is very close to the Boathouse cafe for some Timboon ice-cream for dessert.

  1. That barbeque class you gave Trent for Christmas has paid off, Virginia. Great review. Sounds like a lovely place with great food.
