Piccolino, Mount Waverley

Piccolino, Mount Waverley

(8 / 10)

We went to Piccolino on a Friday night with a group of friends. It is located in an unassuming small strip of suburban shops, but on entering Piccolino’s we were blown away by the great design of the space with two storey high ceilings and a central pizza oven with a chimney up to the roof. There were wonderful smells of garlic and pizza, and the place was already packed with diners.

Thankfully we had a booking and were shown to a table on the second level overlooking the pizza oven and bustling area downstairs, but still with a great atmosphere of its own. The tables were very tightly packed, but there was enough going on that you didn’t feel like you were sharing your conversation with the table next door. It was quite loud, but that also added to the general feel of the place as ‘the place to be in Mount Waverley’.

Our waiter was efficient and easily managed our mixed order of cocktails, wines, soft drinks and a garlic pizza to start. The drinks all arrived to order and the garlic pizza was fantastic. I stopped myself from having seconds only because of our main course that I knew was on the way.

Between Trent and I we ordered a prosciutto pizza (homemade pesto base, mozzarella, baby spinach, San Daniele prosciutto, roasted pumpkin, roasted pepper and gourmet fetta cheese), mix salad, and a bowl of fries for our main course. The pizza is definitely a stand out for the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. There was a good amount of toppings and the base wasn’t too thin. The fries were reasonably generic thin cut, but they hit the spot. (Chunky wedges are also on the menu if you’re looking for something different). The salad was basic but again fit the bill.

None of us were able to fit in a dessert, but the dessert items on the menu looked worth returning for.

If you’re looking for a night out in the Mount Waverley area, we would highly recommend Piccolino. It’s a great restaurant for a fun night out, although not if you want a relaxing quiet venue. Just make sure you book in advance! We rated Piccolino 8 stars.

  1. Seems like a great place to go for the building alone. Looks amazing. Sounds like a lovely night out with great food and good company. Enjoyed the review.
