Rodney was staying for the night and I thought it would be nice to go to our local wine bar, Milton Wine Shop for a glass before dinner. I knew the popularity of the wine bar and so I made sure we arrived before the Friday after work rush. It was a good plan because there were a few people in there when we arrived but it was completely full when we left.
Since it was the start of the night (we might have had a sneaky whiskey over a game of chess earlier) I thought we’d start with a white. Rodney was happy for me to choose the wine and I chose a Western Australian Semillon Chardonnay. They also have a great snack menu and I selected a slice of Gorgonzola cheese. I expected to get the slice of cheese with maybe a few crackers but it came with walnuts covered in a creamy honey, quince paste, dried fig, and an extra platter with baguette, fruit bread and bran crackers. It was pretty amazing and given the amount of food we ended up having a second glass, this time opting for a French Pinot Blanc.
We really enjoyed it.
So Saturday night I suggested to Virginia that we go up for a drink before dinner. The Gorgonzola from the night before was so good I suggested to V we get it. She ordered a red which came chilled and was very nice and I went for a Rosé. Again the snacks and wine were great.
We are giving Milton Wine Shop 8 stars which could be 9 with more friendly service.
