We walked into our local Malvern Thai restaurant Pimento on a Saturday night with no booking and were given a table in the window. We’d already been turned away from the local Greek restaurant which was fully packed so we were happy just to get a table.
There was a bit of atmosphere in the restaurant with a number of tables already occupied. We ordered chicken and mushroom spring rolls as our appetiser, which came out hot and fresh and had a good flavour.
For main course we ordered roast duck curry, chicken satay stir fry and coconut rice. The coconut rice was tasty, however we were disappointed in both the main dishes. The satay was ok but nothing special, and the roast duck curry was quite bland.
Given how many good food places we have in the neighbourhood, and good Thai in Melbourne in general, we wouldn’t rush back to Pimento. Overall we decided to rate it 5 stars.
